Trian O'Bruadair, Silver Rapier

Trian is a good friend of mine, he was one of the first people I started fencing and has taught me a ton over the last two years. He's incredibly smart and insanely fast. He regularly volunteers to foster new fencers and get them up to speed and if he isn't on the field, he's carrying the yellow stick next to it. It was truly an honor and pleasure to write these words for him and utilize his heraldry and traits to create something specific to him.

Look up to these Venetian skies, for among its clouds soars a beast of terrifying speed. Beware, for It is biding its time, waiting for the perfect moment. In a flash of silver and steel, a dive, a shattering strike, and a final breathtaking blow. It's prey will now rest in pieces, never knowing where or who the final blow came from.

We, King Ozurr and Queen Fortune, have seen one with the vicious precision and speed of the peregrine falcon. One whose prowess with a blade is only matched by his love of it's history. A true disciple of Fabris, continuing his legacy as a student and educator. One whose dedication as a marshal is unwavering and unyielding.

Lord Trian O'Bruadair, know now, that we have seen your devotion to the art of defense. For your prowess, passion, and dedication, We will exercise our privileges as King and Queen of the East Kingdom and induct you into the Order of the Silver Rapier with all the associated rights and responsibilities.

At the Great Northeastern War In the Province of Malagentia On the 13th of July, Anno Societatis LIV.

How to approach a Laurel.

First off, it should be known, I am not a Laurel. Nor will I be for many years. That being said, I am now a student under a laurel! I am a huge fan of finding mentors, having a good group of mentors supporting you in different aspects of your life what I think is the best way to become generally good. In general, I'm new in the SCA. My first contact was at Portcon 2017 , and my first event was GNEW 2017 . So I'm going into my second year. I plan on going to Pennsic this year and in the last 6 months, I've gotten really into the SCA. So now that I'm pretty invested, I felt it time to start looking for my mentors. I generally want to find multiple people to befriend and learn from, I agree with the idea that you are the sum of the people you spend the most time with. I've never been an "all my eggs in one basket" kind of fellow. So let us list what kind of endeavors I'll be looking for mentors. Archery Rapier Arts & Science (I still don't kn...

Morgan Kendrick, Order of the Silver Tyger.

For This text I really didn't have much to go off, so I consulted with Lord Edmund Beneyt to try and find some reasonable words. My notes were fairly minimal, the fighter didn't have an EKWiki (Please, for all the favor of the gods, make an EKWiki!). I reached out to some locals to him. “At the time was Morgan was inducted into the order of Silver Tyger, he was authorized in Polearm, Great sword, Spear and Weapon and Shield. This last Pennsic,  Morgan, along with his brothers from House Silverkeep held the right flank for the Southern Army on the last day of battle, wreaking havoc on the siege weapons of the Middle. He has been a fighter in the East Kingdom for the many years, first as a Fencer, then as a heavy list fighter. He is squired to Master Ivan Valfrekr.” ~Wulfgar O’ the Woods So basically, long weapons, lots of death, grim reaper. got it. Here is the scroll text.

A declaration of war has been made...

It is a cold day for all malweardians. I feel truly on the rack. My feet are pinned by Spears to the Barony of Endewearde. My arms pulled by bow and blade to the Province of Malagentia. The lands of Endewearde are vast but mostly filled with potatoes and moose. It is tragic that they will not show the compassion and courtesy of our great Queen Vienna and release the lands to the Riding of Ravensbridge so that a few good gentiles can further improve the East kingdom. That bein g said... Only a Viking warmonger could find pleasure in violating a treaty during an exchange of power... It shows no courtesy, no chivalry, no respect. All the East kingdom, including it's Crown, watches as the right and left hand of the Northern region scuffle for dominance, not even a fortnight from the great war of Pennsic. I still do not know, where to lie blade and bow. For their Excellency need, We the peasants will bleed. A Viking Warmonger demand, Would strip Endewearde of land. Yet the people of...
